Hairballs are balled tufts of hair that are formed in Cats digestive tract after grooming session. This phenomenon is called as trichobezoars.( Feline tongues have hook like features that trap loose, previously shed hair, which travel to stomach & remain undigested and it can form into hair balls.) Most fur balls leave cat’s digestive tract without causing problem. Other times a pet will vomit the trapped hair that is not excreted through stool. These hairballs are not always round, it may be elongated. With aging the cats become better groomer & that is more reason to develop hair balls.
